The Return of the Blog

So, I’m back. Yes, again. I’ve really missed blogging. My one “resolution” this year was to get back into blogging. Since I stopped posting here, I stopped writing my stories and poetry too. It’s like posting all of my everyday crap here freed me up to be a little bit creative and since I’m not getting rid of stuff here, I can’t form a creative thought. Blah.

So, I read 208 books in 2008. It is official, I do need to get out more. But I set a goal of 200 and made it which was pretty satisfying. This year I’m going to stick with a goal of 150 though. 200 was stressful. I think I’ll probably write some about the books I read this year but I don’t know what I’ll write exactly since I don’t really do reviews.

I’m looking at getting promoted this year. *crosses fingers* I hope anyway. My boss says he thinks it could happen in the next 8 to 10 months. But, it will mean relocating. Where exactly I have no idea. Basically the company could move me anywhere they want me to go. I’d like to stay on the east coast and I’d really like to stay within a few hours of my folks in case they need me, but I won’t turn it down if they ask me to go elsewhere. Besides, once I get my foot in the door somewhere, I can always try to come back this way in a couple of years.

I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last week. So so so good. If you haven’t seen it, you should. I cried, of course. When don’t I cry at the movies anymore? But it was so good. Not to mention that Brad looked pretty hot somewhere around the middle. The next movie I want to see is Revolutionary Road. It was playing at the only indie theater around here but it is opening in regular theaters this weekend I think. I watched Titanic this weekend just to get a Leo and Kate fix.

I’ve read 14 books already this year. Hm. I didn’t even realize I had read that much already.

I’ve been working on my family tree at ancestry.com. It’s fascinating. And frustrating. It’s also extremely addicting. Sometimes I’ll sit down to work on it for a few minutes and next thing I know it’s been four hours. I’m looking forward to spring so I can go visit some cemetarys down in NC. Yeah, that sounds weird.

Well, I’m off to meet the BFF for some shopping. Her shopping not mine. I hate to shop. But she takes me along when she shops to keep her from spending too much money. I’m sure her husband appreciates it. Toodles ~

Long time no post. Once again.

So I went to the movies yesterday to see The Secret Life of Bees. Great movie. Don’t go without tissues. I had honestly forgotten how much the book made me cry until yesterday.

Of course I was in tears before the movie even started. Am I the only person who cries during the National Guard commercials that play before the previews?

Beans, beans, that magical fruit.

So my dad went to his kidney doctor a couple of weeks ago. (He has a lot of docs: a kidney doc, a heart doc, a cancer doc, a bone doc, etc…) Anyway, so the doctor tells him that his kidneys are working at 30%. If they drop to 15% or below he’ll have to go on dialysis. So my dad asked if there was anything he should not drink or should be drinking, etc. The doc’s reply… “Your kidneys are working at 30%, drink whatever you want.” I guess that was his way of saying, dude, you’re dying, do what you want.

I love books

So, I’ve read 131 books so far this year. (edit 9/12: make that 132) Granted a few of them are PostSecret books so they aren’t really difficult to read. And I’ve been reading a lot of Young Adult books which tend to be fast reads. Sometimes. But still that’s a lot of books. My goal is to hit 200 this year. It’s easy to read a lot when I travel because sitting in hotel rooms gets boring without a good book. Or even a bad book for that matter.

Unfinished & Now Finished

The post below is password protected, as you can probably tell (duh). It’s an unfinished post and it is about a topic that I don’t wish to receive comments from strangers about. I will finish the post sometime in the next day or so, I’m too sick about it now to finish it. If you want the password drop me an email at cookiejarprincess at hotmail dot com.

The protected post is finished. It’s a little ramble-ly but it’s done.

Always be yourself. Unless you suck.

So, I’m a slacker. It’s been almost two months and I’m just getting around to posting the pic of my tattoo. So, there it is. I’ll be back later. Toodles.

Annoyed

So I psyched myself up to deep clean my bathroom from top to bottom today. But I can’t get the cap off of the hand-held steamer which I was going to use on the shower and the floor and now I’m really annoyed because the alternative to using the steamer is to get on my hands and knees and scrub the grout in the floor with an old toothbrush. And honestly, I just can’t get psyched over that prospect.

Who knew it was that difficult to take a picture of your own ankle?

So, this is the design that I used when I got my tattoo last week. There is a little difference in the way he shaded the moon and my stars are yellow. Oh, and I didn’t get the little sparkle things. I took a couple of pictures this morning but I’m off to buy Breaking Dawn now so I’ll upload them later today. Toodles.

New tat!

I got my second tattoo tonight! It’s purty. It’s a pink ribbon to honor my mom’s survival of breast cancer and in memory of my grandmother (her mother) who also battled it. It’s all bloody and gross right now but I’ll post a picture or two of it later in the week when it heals up some. I’m heading out of town tomorrow for work so I’ll be gone a few more days. Toodles
