
So, I started the South Beach Diet today. I hate that it’s all in capital letters by the way. I’m not going to call it that anymore. Anyway, I bought the book and read it last week. I learned some stuff but not a ton I didn’t already know. I mean, let’s face it, most overweight people know more about nutrition than anyone else on the planet right?
So I decided I was going to start today. Went to the grocery store last night and spent a fortune. Okay, not a fortune but a hundred bucks. But when you add the cost of me eating out almost every meal seven days a week, well, let’s just say it’s well over a hundred bucks so really, the grocery store was kind of a bargain.
I haven’t had a Mt Dew since Thursday. That in and of itself is a miracle. I was reading the sbd book Thursday while I was waiting for reports to load and the more I read the sweeter my drink tasted. It’s all mental I know but by the time I was about halfway through with the bottle I felt like my entire mouth was coated with syrup. So I chucked it and got a bottle of water. And water is all I’ve had to drink since them. I was worried about having some withdrawl headaches from the lack of caffeine in my system but I haven’t had a single problem.
My whole goal from this is to get off of blood pressure medicine and not be worried about developing diabetes or having a heart attack in my 30’s. Yeah, I’d like to be thin and buy cute clothes and blah blah blah but really, my main goal is to not die. And I think that’s a pretty good goal. Toodles.
