What I Did On My Summer Vacation

I am following Yvonne and Kathy over here from d-land. I started blogging over there in 2001 I think. But nowadays there are just too many issues. I can never post when I want to and it’s just a pain in the ass. Sorry Andrew, but I just had to jump ship. It’s been sinking slowly for a while now and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

I’ve been on vacation this past week. I’ve done absolutely nothing. Other than enjoy not being at work. I do love my job but I definitely enjoy not going every so often as well. I went to Busch Gardens with friends a couple of times, I watched an ass load of movies, I cleaned the house and washed clothes and threw away junk that had been occuping space in my closet for a couple of years now, read several books, and I went to the gym almost every day. Good times.

I joined a gym three weeks ago, Curves. I go at least 3 times a week. I actually enjoy it. Who’d a thunk it? I enjoy working out. Shocked the hell out of me. My weigh and measure day is the 18th of the month so I’ll see then how well I’m actually doing but I did cave the other day and weighed myself on my bathroom scale. Apparently I’ve lost close to ten pounds. It’ll be interesting to see how the inches measure up after my first month. We’ll see.

I went to see Evan Almighty with my friend Marinda for my birthday last weekend. It was hilarious. I love Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman both. I laughed out loud through the whole thing. It wasn’t just a laugh out loud movie either, there were subtle things that made me laugh when I caught them. I caught several of them but I’m sure there were probably more that I didn’t. Anyway, it was funny, definitely worth the nine bucks.

There are a ton of movies that I want to see this summer but since the price has gone up I won’t be seeing them all. I’ll wait for them to hit DVD and netflix them. I am so netflix’s bitch. Anyway, I did see Knocked Up a few weeks ago. That is another hilarious movie. I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt afterward. I’ll probably be seeing Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix with my parents. I got them both hooked on Harry Potter years ago, both the books and the movies so I usually see the movies with them.

Speaking of The Boy Who Lived. (Ha) Anyway, only two more weeks until the final book is out. Mama and I have both pre-purchased our books and we always go to the midnight release party at the bookstore to get them. I typically have mine read by the following morning while she takes a little while longer to read hers. Not much longer though. I can’t wait to read it and see how everything ends. But then again, I don’t want it to end. I know it’s probably weird that I’m 31 and I’m sad that the Harry Potter series is ending but I don’t care.

Mama is hoping to go back to work in two weeks. I’m hoping that the doctor will decide to remove her gall bladder and make her wait a little while longer before going back. She’s not really ready to go back but she’s bored of being at home all the time. Which I can totally understand but last time she went back to work after her chemo she went back too soon and did too much and I know that she will do the same thing again. She had an ultra-sound of her gall bladder done a couple of weeks ago and she get the results of that this week. She’s been having some issues and they’ve run a bunch of tests on different things trying to figure out what’s been causing them. So far they’ve ruled out heart problems (thank god) and hernias.

I cut my hair again last week. It’s very Yvonne-esque. The longest hair is less than 2 inches long. I wasn’t sure about it at first because my face is so round and I’ve been told all my life that people with round (also known as fat) faces can’t wear their hair but so short. But I wanted it cut as short as I could get it without shaving it off or having the same hairdo as my brother, so I went for it. I love it and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it. Pretty much everyone loves it. I don’t think my dad likes it but then he’s never really gotten over the time a few years ago when I cut my hair short for the first time. It was halfway down my back when I left the house that morning and when I came home it was up to my chin. He was pretty shocked by that. And I’ve pretty much just cut it shorter and shorter every time I get it cut. Anyway, I love it, it is so nice since it’s been so effing hot and humid and it’s easy to handle. I just wash it and go. Good times.

I’ve been working on this entry off and on for the past two hours while I watch tv and fold clothes so I’m going to end this now. I got Bridge to Terabithia from netflix yesterday so I’m off to watch it. Toodles ~

  1. I can’t wait to see the new Harry Potter…I’m a bad fan though, I haven’t read the books past GoF so I guess I’d better do that sometime in the next four days. Anyway, you should post some pictures of your new haircut! I’ve gone too long without Cindy picto-goodness.

  2. P.S. I like the cookie jar pictures. While I was looking in Bisbee I saw a chicken very similar to the one on the left in the chicken picture…glad I didn’t get that one!

  3. Well does me being three years older than you make me lamer than you that I’m looking forward to the last HP book as well and will also be at a midnight Barnes and Noble party to pick up my book… and my mom will be with us as well. ;) We’ll be seeing OoTP on Tuesday night at midnight. Around here it’s only six bucks to go to the movies durring the week, no matter what time. Hope you start posting more. Miss you!
